Student Advisory Group

The 2023-2024 Student Advisory Group

Fifteen high school students from across the Bay Area will be invited to participate in UCBHSSP's 3rd annual Student Advisory Group.

Are you interested in history? Are you interested in the history of the Bay Area and your community? Do you want to learn strategies that will help you take action on issues that are important to you and your community?

This year, the UC Berkeley History-Social Science Project will host its third Student Advisory Board! We will bring together students who are interested in history to take a deep dive into the People's History of the Bay Area and produce a call to action or build awareness around a topic that is affecting our community. Our work together and your culminating projects will make sure that student voices and perspectives inform the work of UCBHSSP.

In December 2021, the UC Berkeley History-Social Science Project launched its first student advisory group. This group of diverse high school students from across the Bay Area researched, wrote about and shared undertold histories of the Bay Area. Check out the student work and the lesson sequence it informed. Particpants in the 2022 Student Advisory group explored the historic roots of contemporary issues and participated in a panel at the California Council for the Social Studies as well as met with history educators visiting UC Berkeley.
