Teacher Research Group

Each year, UCBHSSP convenes a group of teachers from across the Bay Area to explore individual and collective inquiries around instructional practice in an H-SS context.

Student Advisory Group

In December 2021, UCBHSSP launched its first student advisory group. This group of diverse high school students from across the Bay Area researched, wrote about and shared undertold histories of the Bay Area.  Check out their work and be on the look out for this year's application.

UCB Professional Development Providers

UC Berkeley Professional Development Providers (UCBPDP) is a community of practice among professional learning units located at UC Berkeley that partner directly with K-16 teachers, instructional leaders, and administrators from Bay Area schools and districts. We aim to support lifelong learning for educators throughout their careers, bridging K-16 communities of research and practice.

Big City Social Studies Group

UCBHSSP is a founding member and the grant administrator for the Hewlett-funded BCSS.

The Big City Social Studies Group is a collective of large city school districts and university partners that meet regularly to address common challenges in the teaching of social studies in K-12 schools. This group examines large urban district social studies departments’ and university partners’ current and future directions as they seek to create a model of networked expertise and district-university partnerships that can influence the broader field of social studies education.
