UCBHSSP: Ethnic Studies and Expressions of Power

District and county leaders partner with the UC Berkeley History–Social Science Project (UCBHSSP) when they want stronger, more consistent instruction—and support that translates into real classroom practice.

Our partnerships help districts:

  • strengthen literacy through inquiry-based history instruction

  • support multilingual learners, newcomers, and LTELs through content-based language development

  • build teacher capacity through sustained professional learning

  • improve instructional coherence across schools and grade levels

  • develop teacher leaders who can support long-term implementation

  • align professional learning to district priorities, including LCAP goals and MTSS structures

Recent partnerships

In the last few years, UCBHSSP has partnered with districts and county offices across California, including Oakland USD, Modesto City Schools, San Francisco USD, Contra Costa COE, Sacramento COE, Siskiyou COE, Glenn COE, and partners across San Mateo County and the Bay Area.
