Bringing an Ethnic Studies Lens to Your Elementary Classroom

The State Seal of Civic Engagement and the C/CI Dashboard

Join UCBHSSP for a free virtual information session exploring how schools, districts, and County Offices of Education can support students in earning the California State Seal of Civic Engagement (SSCE), with an eye toward its new and important role in the College/Career Indicator (CCI) Dashboard.

We’ll discuss what the Seal requires, what strong implementation can look like, and practical ways educators and systems can create meaningful pathways for more students to participate. Come prepared with questions, challenges, and ideas from your school or district.

Integrated Action Civics Project Saturday Workshop Series

Saturdays, Virtually on ZOOM 9:00am-12:00pm PST

Help students move from learning about the world to making a difference in it. This five-part virtual workshop series introduces the Integrated Action Civics Project (IACP), a practical framework that helps educators build student voice, critical thinking, and civic agency into any subject area—from history and ethnic studies to science, art, and English language arts. Attend one session or the full series to gain classroom-ready strategies that empower students to understand social change, analyze real-world issues, and take meaningful civic action. Making Real the Promises of Restorative Justice in the Classroom

RJ is also about building relationships, trust, and community every day. Join UCBHSSP and educator/author Tatiana Chaterji for an interactive workshop exploring the promise, challenges and everyday practice of restorative justice in K–12 schools.  The 2 hour workshop will draw on insights from her new book, Everyday Restorative Justice: Moving from Crisis Response to Positive School Culture.

Practicing an Ethnic Studies - Nonviolence Framework

Language Learner Educators Content Modification Workshop

On Saturday, September 19th UCBHSSP and Educators from around California will convene at UC Berkeley’s Dwinelle Hall to learn about our approach to modifying content to meet the needs of language learner students across multiple fields of study.  Over the course of a morning and afternoon session we will model the protocol we've developed, and coach educators on how to implement this framework into their instructional plans.
