This month our cohort will discuss "How do we create healing spaces in response to controversial topics?" Joining our conversation will be Kyle Beckham, lecturer and co-director of the UC Berkeley Teacher Education Program (BTEP). Beckham is also a veteran classroom teacher who helped to co-create SFUSD's Ethnic Studies program.

Joining us will be Artnelson Concordia, who was a founding teacher of the SFUSD Ethnic Studies program and currently coordinates Santa Barbara Unified School District's (SBUSD) Ethnic Studies program.

Vasna Ramasar is the Program Director for the Culture, Power and Sustainability International Masters at Lund University in Sweden. Ramasar currently is focused on social and environmental justice looking at just transitions and alternatives to development. Her projects look at women's resistance to extractivism; workers as agents of change, and navigating justice claims in the energy transition.

Join teachers, students, and members of the California Subject Matter Project as we celebrate the efforts of everyone involved in the Ethnic Studies Freedom Mapping initiative!
Classroom teachers from around the state have teamed up with members of the California Math, History, Writing, and Physical Education Projects to develop an interdisciplinary, project-based Ethnic Studies curriculum. Join us as we describe the work we've done, showcase student work, and discuss how these resources might work in your school's community.
