Ethnic Studies and the H-SS Classroom

This institute is funded by the Teaching with Primary Sources program of the Library of Congress. Teachers will be introduced to Ethnic Studies pedagogies and will develop a lesson utilizing primary sources from the collections of the Library of Congress and critically engage with questions that explore what is included in the archive.

Institute Question: How can we plan for liberatory learning opportunities that acknowledge the fullness of our past and the possibilities for our future?

Institute Outcomes:

  • Develop a personal vision statement for instruction
  • Refine/augment an existing lesson using primary sources from the collections of the Library of Congress and informed by the institute
